For the record, le is the definite article for masculine nouns in French. La is its feminine counterpart.

Un and une are the indefinite equivalents.

L' is used when the noun begins with a vowel, or h or y; to signify between masculine or feminine, go by the general rule (there are exceptions) that if it ends in an e, it's feminine.
