WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - A reputed northeastern Pennsylvania mobster has been transferred to a halfway house for the remainder of a money-laundering and witness tampering sentence that has had him behind bars since 2006.

The Bureau of Prisons says William D'Elia is now in the custody of the Community Corrections Office in Philadelphia. That office oversees halfway houses between Pennsylvania and New England.

The 66-year-old D'Elia pleaded guilty to charges in 2008 and was sentenced to nine years in prison but prosecutors had that term reduced because of his cooperation in cases against former casino owner Louis DeNaples and businessman Robert Kulick.

D'Elia, of Hughestown, is scheduled for release from custody in February. He faced counts including solicitation of murder before pleading guilty to two lesser charges

So is he considered a MOb Snitch ? Did he cooperate against any other Mob guys ? Maybe he was never a boss in Scranton and really only a driver .Could it be that DeNaples is the real Mob boss of Scranton ? His name goes back to the PA crime commission reports of the 80's .
