I've read stuff about The Outfit and in some ways they do seem different from the East Coast families. They still have the same structure where 'made men' have to be Italian through their father's side, but where the Outfit differs from other families is that the 'associates' have an important and a pretty high-ranking role within the Outfit's operations.
