While political followers often hate each other here in the States, the politicians themselves usually get along better than you might think.
I've read where Dubya and Hillary actually get along quite well, and have been known to have a few beers together at political functions. And if those two don't make strange bedfellows, I don't know does.
Read a book titled "The Presidents' Club" to see how well all the former presidents and past presidents always support each other in order to protect the office and their own legacies.
The only one who is a bit pf a pain according to the book is Carter. A good example of this is the first person Obama called when bin Laden was killed was Dubya.
