In the scene at the party in Nevada when Mike is talkong to the senator about the casinos Mike says "Turnbull is a good man.....", i get the feeling someone can explain to me who Turnbull is.
By the way, why do you think that in that "I intend to squeeze you scene" Michael says to Geary (to paraphrase) He's the one who arranged this whole thing and Turnbull's a good man?
Those statements seem like chit chat which is something I would never ascribe to Michael engaging in. They seem so out of place.
"Generosity. That was my first mistake." "Experience must be our only guide; reason may mislead us." "Instagram is Twitter for people who can't read."
Oli, I don't think it was chitchat. As I envisioned it in my long-ago post, "Turnbull's a good man" was intended to signal Geary that he'd played by Geary's rules: Bribing Geary for the license by paying a "legal retainer" to Turnbull, Geary's bag-man.

Probably to introduce Tom "Mr. Legitimate," to justify his presence at the meeting, and to verify that Michael had done things "correctly" by working through Turnbull:
This is my lawyer, TOM HAGEN; SENATOR GEARY. He's the one who arranged this whole thing through your man Turnbull.

Turnbull worked in the offices of Senator Patrick Geary of Nevada, though he was known as an associate and possible informant for the Corleone family.
During negotiations to gain a hotel in Nevada, owned by Meyer Klingman, Turnbull was approached by Tom Hagen, who arranged a meeting with Senator Geary concerning the gaming licence.
