The deluge hit here around 8:00 this morning. Lots of thunder and lightning to go with all the rain. Unbelievable!

Because of a shitty repaving job on my street a couple of years ago, the asphalt level is now too high in many spots where the sidewalk curb meets the paved road - in other words, the sidewalks were partially underwater in just a few minutes.

I was seriously considering building an Ark, but within an hour things had subsided to a very light drizzle. And a good thing too, because that's when I had to leave and keep an important appointment.

I don't mind a little rain (well, actually, I do...), but this morning was frightening.

Looks like we're moving into consistent days of triple digits.

And, it's still June.

It continues to be perfect here in SoCal. Normally June is overcast but not so this June (for the most part). Temps are in the low/mid 80's sunny and clear (no smog).

However, it's predicted to get well into the 90's by the weekend/next week so I know the triple digits are not far behind.

My sympathies. That's soggy crotch weather. South NJ is enjoying a cold front. Mid 70s and dry. Chased away some killer storms. By the weekend we'll be in the 90s.

The NBC affiliate out of Philly is forecasting feel-like temps of 100°+ on Saturday.

Perfect day in New York. It's 90, but there's almost zero humidity. Just perfect.

Drove through a spectacular lightning storm this morning. Lots of cloud to cloud spidery fingers.

We had the mother of all lightning storms last night around 3:30 AM. It was spectacular to watch.

Today we have olivant's heat and humidity with temps pushing 100. It's a real gravymaker.

Short i have never seen anything like it in my life! It absolutely threw it down, everywhere was flooded.

It was my daughters Prom and we were an hour late because we couldn't get through the gridlock. On the way back we had to park up cos there was no way through. We ended up walking a mile home with water up to our knees in the streets.....

Yeah, but that's NORMAL for over there. If we get over 100° here it's like the earth is melting.

It's like walking through hot split pea soup in New York today.

Well, it wasn't a goodnight..or morning. See that really dark red section? It clobbered us. Worst storm I've ever experienced...worse than wimpy Hurricane Irene last year. It hit around 2 am. Non-stop lightening, a couple of near direct hits. Wind and rain pounded the windows. I've been without power since. I'm writing this from work. No damage to my house, but there are thousands of trees down...on houses, cars, driveways, roads. Poles snapped and dangling from the wires. The storm is called a "derecho". It moves fast - 50-60 mph, and has high winds and lightening. Atlantic County got pounded. Wind gusts were 50-80 mph. As of yesterday 120,000 people without power. They are looking at July 4th to have the majority back. 400 utility crews from north Jersey are helping out. Mother Nature was a bitch.

MC, I was thinking of you. My daughter had reservations at the Chelsea in A/C, and got an email that the hotel was shut down until at least Tuesday due to the storm and her reservation had been canceled. Glad to hear that you weathered it well, no pun intended.

Sorry about the inconvenience of losing your power, but in light of the destruction of the storm, I'm sure you're feeling lucky.

109? Wow!! We have been very lucky thus far. Usually we've had triple digits by now. It got to the 90's last week a couple days, but the next couple days here will be pleasantly in the mid 80's. Unusual for us but nice.

Rained all day again in UK..

Not up here it didn't mate.....grey and grim but no rain!!

Still no power as of 7am - 77 hours and counting. My daughter got her's back this morning. I received a recorded message yesterday - power back at midnight July 4, but my daughter got the same message. There were still 70,000 without power in Atlantic County. I cleaned out the refrigerator yesterday. Interesting the junk you have in there.
