The Madison branch of La Cosa Nostra was started by Carlo Peter Caputo with permission and backing of the Chicago Crime Family. Caputo was originally a capo in the Milwaukee Mob. The family was started in 1940 and only had five members, not two members, just like the American Mafia site tells us. However, they were definitely the smallest crime family of La Cosa Nostra.
Carlo Peter Caputo - boss from 1940-1973 - originally a member of the Milwaukee LCN Family - owner of Carlo's Restaurant and Rosemary's Restaurant - born around 1903 in Palermo, Sicily - passed away on November 09, 1993 in Madison, Wisconsin
Joseph Aiello - underboss from 1940-1970 - not sure when he was born - passed away on November 07, 1970 in Madison, Wisconsin
Benjamin "Benny" DeSalvo - capo from 1940-1964 - born around 1889 in Palermo, Sicily - passed away in 1964
James "Jimmy" Schiavo - soldier from 1940-1970 - not sure when he was born - passed away in 1970
Vincent "Vince" Troia - soldier from 1940-1973 - born on June 05, 1896 in Palermo, Sicily - passed away on January 31, 1973 in Madison, Wisconsin

Oh, my bad. Might have been coincidental then. I swear I read something about his daughters marrying a Caputo in an FBI file, but it could just be me associating intermarriage with fixed marriages of someone's daughter. If that makes sense. File was here: http://www.framingbusiness.net/archives/2245

Vincent "Vince" Troia - soldier from 1940-1973 - born on June 05, 1886 in Palermo, Sicily - passed away on January 31, 1973 in Madison, Wisconsin
Good work, NJ! I would like to mention though that you seem to have confused Madison, Wisconsin Troia with Vincent Troia of NJ who was an early high ranking member of the Newark Family and killed back in 1935. This Troia was born in 1886. The Madison, Wisconsin Troia was born in 1896. Name: Vincent Troia Event: Death Event Date: 31 Jan 1973 Event Place: Madi, , Wisconsin Residence: Wisconsin Gender: Male Age: 76 Certificate Number: 000524 The confusion is totally understandable though because of the same name and that the NJ Troia did have some dealings in Illinois OR in the Wisconsin area at some point in his life. The Troias doesn´t seem to have been related though.

Didn't know there were two. Sounds to me, and It's surprising, but you never know, they were born in the same year. They were not born in the same year. The Madison, Wisconsin Troia was born in 1896 in Palermo. The NJ Troia was born in 1886 in San Giuseppe Iato. It´s easy to confuse the two Troias because they seem to have had a lot in common (name, buisness and location area at some point). "August 22, 1935: Vincenzo Troia, formerly a close associate of "boss of all bosses" Salvatore Maranzano and himself a nominee for the position, following the death of Giuseppe Masseria in 1931, was shot to death for allegedly plotting to seize control of the Newark, New Jersey, Family." http://www.nevadaobserver.com/Chronological%20History%20of%20La%20Cosa%20Nostra%20(1988).htm
