I think their point is that you never know until you're faced with something. Not ratting out your classmates for peeking at your homework is a lot different than looking at life in prison or death in the streets as an adult.

It's one thing for a wiseguy who has lived the life to adopt a "rats need to die" attitude, or if you're a family member who has lost someone to jail. But when you're just a mob-watcher on an Internet board, you really don't know what it feels like to be faced with such things.

So don't get mad, but how old are you? I'm guessing you're still a very young guy. Your outlook may change when you get older smile.
