Well, we're talking about 3,400 miles New York to London taking over 7 hours. Miami to Seattle is about 2,700 miles and under 6 hours. Those teams to the west of New York would be in for one hell of a trip. Of course, the longer one is in a position to fall out of the sky, the greater chance that one may fall out of the sky. While traversing the US offers any number of landing fields (in addition to rescue resources) in the case of an in-flight emergency, the ocean offers none.
