There are plenty of people out there who are and always will be racist. You hope that education would be the key to helping erase this behavior, but since this man is a judge, that's not the case here. How sad.

When that Arizona sheriff (allegedly using taxpayer funds) claims he's got new reasons to believe the Birth Certificate is fake, the Obama campaign tweeted in response with this:

"Let's Stay Together," by Al Green, is currently running in at least three commercials (Lay's potato chips and a couple others). This can't be a coincidence. I don't recall seeing any of them prior to the President singing it at the Apollo last month. The guy is just good advertising lol.

Why not "Let's Lay's Together"?

Four years ago Obama ran almost no negative ads on youtube. It was mainly about his aims, about the grassroot movement he wanted to establish, etc. Only very few times it was explicitly only about McCain. Now he's showing anti Romney clips on youtube which I don't really understand. Is he on the run? Instinctively, I would say, it makes more sense for the challenger to run negative ads against a president. The president himself should be more focussed on what he has achieved.

Obama is trying to "define" Romney by showing he is not "one of us." It is clear that Romney's track record of going negative in every priary means he'll try to go negative against Obama. In 2008 Obama and Hillary went at it pretty heavily and sometimes negatively, and in the general election Obama was running on "hope and change" which he cannot do this time. Additionally Sarah Palin aside McCain ran a reasonably clean campaign so neither side really went that negative.

I remember that Obama always talked respectfully about Hillary, something like they agree on 99% of the issues, "but I can do better."
When she was mocking him, he didn't seem to care about it. Only when asked he said, it's alright, let her have some fun.

Obama definitely took the high road in 2008. It's one of the reasons that I voted for him.

I recall Obama sneering "You're likeable enough" during one of the debates with Hillary.

Fun Fact: 2/3rds of the ads sent out by Obama '08 campaign were negative.

Could you explain this? Are you talking about newspaper or radio ads (which I didn't get over here in Germany)? Because I've watched almost every ad of his on youtube. And I was very impressed by the way his campaigning differed from every other candidate.

Really, Bristol? rolleyes

Bristol Palin draws fire for gay marriage comments

By Ron Recinto, Yahoo News

Bristol Palin is sparking a social media backlash for disagreeing with President Barack Obama's support of same-sex marriage.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant, author, and unwed mother said in her blog: "We know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home."

The daughter of Sarah Palin also commented that President Obama's decision was influenced by his daughters, Sasha and Malia.

"I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren't younger, or perhaps today's press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox," Palin wrote.

Reaction to her comments came swiftly.

Samantha Ronson, celebrity DJ and former girlfriend of Lindsay Lohan said of Palin's mother/father comment, "really bristol palin? how's your kid doing?"

Jersey Shore star JWoww first tweeted, "Bristol should keep her uneducated ignorant mouth shut. If Ur living in the past u wouldn't have a kid w/out marriage #hypocrite. It's 2012!"

She followed up with another tweet saying, "My best friend will get married one day and not just have civil union with his man. Stop hating people."

Openly gay blogger Perez Hilton tweeted, "I think I need to give Bristol Palin a good massage. Girlfriend needs to RELAX!!!"

Sherri Shepherd of "The View" commented on Twitter, "Sara Palin educated Bristol... and not blaming Bristol, but I'm blaming Bristol being young & not excercising good judgment."

Even some not-so-famous commentators got their say, as mediabistro.com's "All Twitter" blog rounded up some of the best reactions to Bristol Palin's comments.

Some of those include:

•nolageek "Let's all bask in the irony of Bristol Palin talking about the importance of raising a child in a traditional marriage."

•Chico Delainky "Bristol Palin is just envious that some babies have two dads & her's doesn't even have one"

•Alec Mapa "Bristol Palin's just jealous because I'm actually married to the father of my baby"

That about sums it up, Klyd.

If people oppose gay marriage for truly religious reasons, that's one thing. I think Obama was very diplomatic in saying that not all those opposed were being "hateful." He did a good job there. But Bristol Palin is the LAST person on this earth who should be putting her two cents in.

I guess she just misses being in the news. I'll bet anything she ends up on another reality show in the near future.

Baby Mama's whose engagements to their Baby Daddy's conveniently break up when their publicity whore mothers lose an election should keep their mouths shut about kids doing better in a home with a mother and a father.

Seems Newsweek decided to sell some magazines of their own with this headline:

Obama ‘first gay president’

(from the Newsweek article): It won't be nearly as controversial as Time magazine's breastfeeding cover, but Newsweek's May 21 issue declares Barack Obama the country's "first gay president."

How could they say that? Declaring that our president is gay seems certainly more controversial than a woman breastfeeding her child.

Of course, you'll notice that much of the pro-gay marriage crowd doesn't even allow us that. It's not because of our religious beliefs. It's because we're just a bunch of hateful jerks. rolleyes I actually think many of them know this isn't the case but the more they can paint us as simply "hateful," the easier they feel their argument is.

True. But remember the headline about Bill Clinton as the first black President? They're clever guys.

Unfortunately, that is true in some cases. They simply hate gays, just as hateful people once opposed mixed race marriages. It's too bad that the haters grab the attention.

As for the magazine cover, it's just silly.

I think it is very easy to separate religious beliefs from political beliefs on the issue of gay marriage because a religious marriage and civil (state-created) marriage are two separate institutuions. If a couple is not married in the Church, but obtained a civil marriage license, they are not deemedmarried in the eyes of the Church regardless of gender.

There is nothing sacred about state sponsored marriage. It merely confers a legal status on a couple, and provides rights, privileges, responsibilities and benefits under the law.

A marriage within the confines of the couple's religion is a sacred bond, and if the religion defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman (or several women), that is fine.

I think Time and Newsweek are orbiting much closer to the National Enquirer and Weekly World News than they'd care to admit.
