Salvatore: Here is the original article where I read it, but it's in Italian. Pretty much the media believes it was a ploy of some kind, as he did it almost in front of the guard. He could have gone to the bathroom where there is a lot less surveilance. Also, they wonder where he got a plastic bag from.
Media is guessing it's more than likely a message to the outside, or even that he was causing diversion and putting off a head/brain evaluation he was set to undergo, to determine the validity (again) of the dementia his sons keep saying their father is suffering from. No matter, nobody is truly believing Provenzano would attempt suicide. If I come across anything more later on, I'll post it.
