In 2008 Obama and Hillary went at it pretty heavily and sometimes negatively.
I remember that Obama always talked respectfully about Hillary, something like they agree on 99% of the issues, "but I can do better." When she was mocking him, he didn't seem to care about it. Only when asked he said, it's alright, let her have some fun.
Obama definitely took the high road in 2008. It's one of the reasons that I voted for him.
