Pretty warm Sunday, around 90 F. The new greenhouse registered in at off-the-scale (over 120, surprised the cheap thermometer didn't break!) so had to open its windows. Freak temp day for the area!
It's only mid-April, yet Spring Fever has gotten me itching to get plants outside. Alas, not yet, even with the greenhouse. May 1st at the least I think.

We should be getting cooler by this weekend, and we'll also be getting some (much needed) rain Sunday/Monday. I REALLY doubt there'll be any freezes from now on. That 120° reading MAY be accurate, although it wouldn't be considered official unless some conditions were met (the placement of the thermometer would determine that - like shade, and height off the ground, etc.).

I REALLY doubt there'll be any freezes from now on. Does that mean I canput away my winter coat? I object! Counsel is leading the witness.

That 120° reading MAY be accurate, although it wouldn't be considered official unless some conditions were met (the placement of the thermometer would determine that - like shade, and height off the ground, etc.). Very true. The cheapy thermometer reading 100+ is near the top of the wall, in the corner, with its back to the sun yet mostly shaded. A foot or two under that is the outdoor remote strapped with velcro to the pole, and inside that was reading 96.5. My new handheld surface temp gun confirmed that both were correct, but it still doesn't tell me exactly what the temp is inside. Being that it's about 78 out now, in the shade, according to my trusty old analog outdoor thermometer, and even with 3 of the 4 windows in the greenhouse open, it's definitely warmer in there. This was taken just after noon today, with me facing the sun's direction. PS - that's one of my fig trees poking from the bottom

Wow, you are really doing good. I am what I'd call total opposite of a green thumb. When I DID have plants, they were all artificial. Much easier to take care of. LOL Good work!! TIS

Well, I still have to see if I do well or not - the delicate plants aren't out there yet. Some new things to consider with a greenhouse is watering (since rain won't get in, tho, the moisture should be retained better), and pollination w/o insects. While I can leave the doors open for the latter, that defeats half the purpose of having it (to deter the squirrels from digging through all the pots!). lol So it should be interesting....

I didn't think about all that PLUS you gotta worry about little critters getting in? Way too much work. TIS

Ooof. It's supposed to hit 96°F (35.56°C) here tomorrow and Thursday. And just mid-80s in Florida and mid-70s in LA.

Well, since it's supposed to be as hot as Hades over the next 2-3 days here in Vitelli Territory, I decided to get enough food to last the duration and plan on basically hibernating unless something major comes up.
Luckily, in the building where I live, it takes 2-3 days for the weather to work its way through the brickwork and affect the temperature within my apartment.
Of course, the reverse is also true: after it becomes nearly unbearable within my domicile, the outside temperature will go down to tolerable levels while I may still be roasting within and seriously considering putting my portable air conditioners into any and all available windows.
Any way you look at it, the predicted 97°F SUCKS!

Ummm, those A/C units should already be installed, if not blasting! I have central air, but that means nothing upstairs (bedroom and office) which gets HOT in the late afternoon, especially on such days. I tend to stay in the lower levels; if not sleep down there...

You still holding down the fort while everyone is sick, Yogi? Gonna be HOT here (see Geoff's and Sr. Vitelli's messages). I'm in a cooler area than they are (sea breezes) but it is still supposed to get to 90° (32°C) over the next three days. The older I get the less tolerant I am to heat/humidity. I think I'll barricade myself in my bedroom (where I have air conditioning). I'm dying for a cigarette.
