This has been a matter of debate for a long time. I canĀ“t remember exactly where the story of Luciano being there when the cops arrived origins from. Perhaps Valachi? However, "recent" research show no police reports or newspaper clippings from the day suggesting Luciano being there. I personally think that the "oh, I was at the bathroom when it happened" is fabricated.
So is the famous photograph showing Masserias hands clinching the ace of spades card btw. A reporter (or the photographer) put it there after he had arrived at the scene, all for the dramatic effect of it all.
