Well it was only the wife who wanted it around a holiday but she had a list:

1. Christmas
2. Easter
3. Valentine's Day

I just walked away when she said that, then she finds me later and says "sorry if I know how to handle my money"- this from the woman who DOESN'T WORK. My friend had a good paying job and the wife stayed home all day- if she was the one who had to work or put in overtime to buy the gifts she might have an argument but some people lol

Afs, by the way, I tried that ice cream... it's not my favorite, but you're right, it's REALLY good. grin Next week I'm gonna buy a gallon of it to bring home so everyone else can try it too. wink Now I have to get my friends to go to that place too... it's kind of in the bad area of Sunset, so it'll take some convincing... lol But it's totally worth it. I love the texture, too... I wonder how they get it like that.

A guy sticks his head into a barber shop and asks, "How long before I can get a haircut?"
The barber looks around the shop and says, "About 2 hours."
The guy leaves.
A few days later the same guy sticks his head in the door and asks, "How long before I can get a haircut?"
The barber looks around at the shop full of customers and says, "About 3 hours."
The guy leaves.
A week later the same guy sticks his head in the shop and asks, "How long before I can get a haircut?"
The barber looks around the shop and says, "About an hour and half."
The guy leaves.
The barber looks over at a friend in the shop and says, "Hey, Bill, follow that guy and see where he goes. He keeps asking how long he has to wait for a hair! cut, but then he never comes back.
A little while later, Bill comes back into the shop, laughing hysterically.
The barber asks, "Bill, where did he go when he left here?"
Bill looks up ... with tears in his eyes .... and says ..
"Your house !!!!"

Don't they have 1 or 1/2 litre "to go" packages? So what's your favorite flavor? What do you mean by texture? I'm confused. By the way you also should try "Faloodah", that's those white slender noodles in syrup and ice. I like that too. I'm not sure what do they call that over there. tongue

Heard my report came in yesterday. Made a 3.8 GPA for the semester and my overall is a 3.5 (which is exactly what I want to graduate with in May, so I gotta hold on for just 1 semester!). smile

I just got my acceptance letter to WVU. They say all you really need to get in is a social security number, but I was still worried. smile Yay.

That's great Bogey! congratulations! How exciting.

You mean you don't have a SS number? I had to send to Michigan to get both my daughters when they were in elementary school. Don't know why exactly, but it's a requirement here, at least in my area. ohwell

TIS, that was so cute!!!! hee hee hee! I love it!

Afs, by texture, I mean how it was kind of gummy, you know what I mean? Like it doesn't fall apart in your mouth or even just melt away. It's cool. I've tried that other noodle thing at a Persian restaurant. It was interesting. wink By the way, I tried the Orange Blossom one, too... that was great too! I still love the saffron pistachio one, though. I took my cousin last night, and his favorite was the rosewater ice cream.

Bogz, congrats!!

Thanks guys.. smile

Umm I put History down as my major, simply because its one of my favorite subjects.. but I don't know what I'd do with a History degree though.. I don't think I could teach. I'll probably end up changing it at some point.

For the past couple years I've been planning on majoring in Physics, getting my graduate in Astronomy.. and becoming an Astronomer. And I'm pretty good in those two subjects (98% in physics, 103% in astronomy) But then this year I took Calculus.. and uhh, it all went downhill from there. I hoping to keep my C in there so I can get a scholarship.

don't let calculus get to you. I know economics majors who could barely pass calculus. I had a teaching assistant for my calculus 1 class who was having problems doing some of the problems so don't get too worried if you aren't doing that great in it- you aren't supposed to lol

It's true, my Calculus teacher in High School had failed Calc when he was in high school.

And the people who you wouldn't expect to do well, do. I don't like math and I got a B+ in Calc. (89.6%, and he wouldn't round it up to an A. mad )

But anyway, yeah, no one does well in Calc. Schools take that into consideration when they're looking at scholarships and stuff.

When I was in high school, believe it or not, Algebra was NOT a required course, let alone calculus. You could take Algebra, but it wasn't required. You had general math, accounting, business math, and probably a couple more choices that I can't think of now.

Both my girls "had" to take Algebra in Middle School and High School. As you can imagine, I was of no help solving their math problems at that point. tongue

I always hated math, and even now, although I'd like to think I know the basics, I am not good at it. ohwell I always preferred English and even Literature to a degree and Civics, which is now Social Studies I believe. I also didn't mind Government.

Was Algebra even discovered by then? Probably a good thing you did not have to take it as it would be a pain to "show your work" by scratching equations on a piece of slate lol [/b]

Just got my 3rd cell phone & now I've got a New York number. My first 2 cell phones had the same number and it was a local (Texas) number. But since my family is all in New York & I'm joining their plan, I've gotta get a New York number. mad Now I've gotta call the people that I call the most & see if they have free long distance so when they call me it won't cost them.

Zia, that gummy texture you noticed is because of a special ingredient called "Salep"(English) or "Sa'lab"(Arabic). That prevents the ice cream from freezing to hard ice and at the same time delays the melting time. It is a little bit sticky and if you notice the ice cream stretches when you get some if it with spoon. When I was trying to make ice cream I just didn't know why mine froze as hard ice or ice chips at best. You have no idea how I got that secret ingredient out of one of those professionals! I made him an offer he couldn't refuse! grin

lol Some recipe secrets are more fiercely guarded than Russian intelligence.

So no wonder it's like that! That's exactly what I meant, about how it kind of stretches... OMG it's so good.

Do they make a hot drink out of that salep too? I know a lot of Middle Eastern people, and I've had this thick white drink, the name sounds like a variation of Salep... it sounds like Sahhh-lehb, the way they say it. So is this made of the same stuff? Or is it completely different?
