^ Nov. 12, 1941. Abe Reles, main Murder, Inc. hitman lies dead on Coney Island rooftop after he jumped (or was pushed) from his hotel room. He was being guarded in that room by police while he waiting to testify against his fellow mobsters. He became known as "the canary that could not fly".
