from what i know frank lucas and his american gangster movie were about 85% phony. i personally don't think his story adds up to the times or the attitudes of the time. IN MY OPINION remember this is only what i think. Nicky Barnes on the other hand was the real deal IN MY OPINION. and he flipped out of revenge. here is the best documentary that I've found on Leroy "nicky" Barnes.
