As for the dirt in the lungs, them being buried alive absolutely fucking terrified me. Though, I had read for years they were killed in the basement, then moved to be buried. 'Casino' more than anything else, probably influenced the thought than anything else
The makers of Casino (Scorsese, Pileggi) did that scene because them being buried alive was already the common belief at the time.
