If my memory serves me right, I think the Chicago bosses were furious about the fact that the Spilotro brothers bodies were found buried in a corn field very neraby Joey Aiuppa´s farm.
This created unwanted publicity from the authorities on Aiuppa´s behalf.

Does anyone know if the bodies were buried alive?
I read stories that claim they were. Other stories claim they weren´t.
