For the people who do not know, the D'Amico's are from Granby Que, and the Rizzuto Clan has there strong hold in Monreal. How did the feud between these 2 clans begin? I vaguely remember reading somewhere ( I think in the 6th family) about the D'Amico's assembling many of their troops into a 15 vehicle motorcade and then parading somewhere in Rizzuto territory as a show of strength, and intimidation. Can anyone elaborate on this?
Thank you for your time

Thank you for your time Im currently reading Mafia Inc. Here is a brief summary: The D'Amicos claimed the Rizzutos owed them $900,000. It had something to do with a job that involved smuggling marijuana into the US, that was overseen by the Hells Angels Sherbrooke chapter. Frank Arcadi refused to pay, and was overheard saying that the D'Amicos threatened to cut off his head. In an apparent attempt to intimidate the D'Amicos, the Rizzutos chartered a helicopter and flew over the D'amicos houses. One of their cars was set on fire as well. In response the D'amicos kidnapped Nicolo Varacalli, a close associate of Arcadi. The hostage was videotaped telling the Rizzutos, among other things "Dont think youre untouchable. There are lots of them and they can get you." Arcadi, whose underlings associated the D'amicos with the Sherbrooke Hells Angels, was despairing and admitted he was afraid. Next the D'amicos reached out to Nicolo Rizzuto, believing they werent going to get anywhere with Arcadi. As a gesture of good faith, Varcalli was released. When Nicolo failed to deliver the money, the next move was a show of force. Luca and Patrizio D'amico, and one other guy walked in to the Consenza social club and casted hostile glances toward the likes of Rocco Sollecito and Paolo Renda. One of them was armed. They left within minutes and were picked up outside the doors of the club by a motorcade of 8 vehicles. After this the Rizzutos stepped up security at the Consenza. High ranking members such as Paolo Renda, Arcadi, Sollecito and Nicolo now didnt go anywhere without being escorted by young armed soldiers. Nicolo reportedly sent for 4 seasoned hit men from Venezuela.

again i highly doubt the d'amico's are behind it they couldn't do it they are nobody Where in this thread did anyone say they were behind all the recent mob murdesr in Montreal? you forget that a man like agostino cun trera was killed with tons of connections in the world that is irrelevant to this topic of discussion. Agostino Cun trera was killed in 2010. This thread is about a dispute between the Rizzutos and D'Amicos in 2005.

Actually they were the first to make a violent formal unambiguous move against the Rizzuto`s and tried to first a few years earlier but Vito was still out so he mediated. They are a very powerful Clan and were not afraid to go to war with the Rizzuto`s even before Vito went away. Maybe they know something we don`t and the fact that they are not in the headlines and are not as well know as the Rizzuto clan does not mean they have less power. I`m not saying the D`Amico`s are more powerful, but we don`t know.

Mussolini makes a great point regarding the D'Amico opposing Rizzuto hegemony that early in the game, even while Vito was still out and about. How powerful they (the D'Amico) were/are currently is unknown, beyond the fact that they were at the time seemingly willing and able to take on the Rizzuto's and Montreal (and perhaps by proxy NY, depending on which theory you put credence) Though I do agree with Mick2010. I dont think anyone is contending that the D'Amico's are directly involved in all the murders, or that the Cun.trera murder was an extension of this altercation m2w. FWIW (and I know this has been done to death in myriad other threads and discussions), it seems that there were a number of seperate and sometimes unrelated factions involved in the recent string of Rizzuto Family murders and attacks. But the underlying theme points towards a Calabrian angle. Thanks for the info Mick. I wish i could just order Mafia Inc. already and be done with it. Cards maxed out and just enough in weekly wages to pay the bills and keep Mrs Meatballs in, er, meatballs. Guess Im waiting till next year (damn Ice and Fire series, make me spend my birthday/xmas quota)
(cough.)
