There was retribution in the Bonanno family after Donnie Brasco was uncovered, I think Lefty Ruggiero would of been whacked had he not gone to jail, Sonny Black did get whacked though.

DePalma was only ever an acting Capo, and obviously once Garcia was exposed he was arrested and then he died not long after, so I don't think he was officially shelved.

I know Gotti made him an official capo for something in 1990. And Garcia's book said he got his stripes back and then Vaccaro became his acting capo as Greg said he would use Vaccaro to limit his exposure. just my take I could be wrong though.

Be wary of believing Garcia on everything, DePalma was a pretty low level guy in the family, Gravano used to tell his wife he wasn't in when he called LOL. Garcia naturally wants to make DePalma out to be a real powerhouse to make it look like he was infiltrating the highest level.
