Is anyone watching this on Sunday evenings on HBO? It's sort of like The Wire meets Rome. Good stuff in my opinion. It's loosely influenced by The War of The Roses. Game of Thrones

I watch parts of it from time to time - only minutes at a time. But so much of it is disgusting, especially parts of the dialogue. Gratuitous? For sure. Yup. Much of the dialogue is taken direct from the book. Martin didn't hold back. I don't get HBO (we canceled it after The Sopranos went off the air). That's too bad. Perhaps when it comes out on Blu-Ray/DVD you can take a look. This series has real potential I think.

Families that are a bit too close, attempted murder of a child, actual murder of a child, clashes over proper gender roles, adultery, machinations for war, domestic abuse, revenge carried out under the banner of law, murder investigations in which the entire court had a motive-and that's just in the first four episodes...

Yes, that was the best part of that episode! I've been practicing that speech ever since I saw it.  I was waiting for him to say " The Drogo will take you down Know Your Role Boulevard to the corner of Jabroni Drive and check you directly into the Smackdown Hotel!"  It's funny though.
