It could go back even further and show Antonio Andolini's war with Ciccio.

As this is an unused Puzo manuscript, this actually excites me, if the author simply adapts Puzo's idea, this could even be considered canon - unlike the Winegardener books.
Stuff about Vito fathering his kids and how the kids got along with eachother as teens would make good reading. Obviously mixed in with hardcore organised crime.

Considering Puzo's other post-GF work, don't over-expect. Agreed. But Falco could take the outline of any Puzo-penned script and expand on it, making it his own -- and better -- when compared to the bomb of something like Omerta. The Winegardner novels pretty much soured me on Godfather-themed novels but I'll definitely be checking this out. At least it sounds like it will involve most or all of the original characters -- and no Ace Geraci!!!

Everything from 1900 to 1955 is already told. There's roughly a ten year gap in between the war of the '30s (covered in the novel) and Connie's wedding. That's really the only time period not covered.

That's really the only time period not covered. I'm not sure what you mean with "gap" because there's as much information in the novel about the period after the war with Maranzano (Vito tries to united different groups, buys the compound, etc.) as there is written about the 1920s. Ofcourse, as the whole period of 1901 to 1945 is only one chapter, it can be a lot more specific. But what I really would love to see (and I'm sure I'm not the only one around here) is what happened between 1959/1960 and 1979. The 1960s was a very interesting period for the American Mafia. We can now only speculate what happened with the Corleone family in those years and its transition to legitimacy. I'm interested to know how Joey Zasa made his bones and eventually became boss of the Corleone's criminal faction. Or who Don Altobello exactly was. When Michael finally made the decision to go legitimate. You name it.

Ofcourse, as the whole period of 1901 to 1945 is only one chapter, it can be a lot more specific.
That's what I meant, Sonny; that it can be more specific. Towards the end of that chapter, it mentions that Vito moved his family from the city to Long Beach in 1939. There's a mention of Sonny's altercation with the phony boiler people, and Nazorine being swindled by the furniture people, then a brief mention of the family prospering during World War II (through the black market, etc.). But that's really it. I think this new novel should cover Michael rejecting his father as a teenager, joining the army, etc. I think it might also delve into Sonny's coming of age in the family, Carlo's courtship of Connie, and whatever backstory they might invent for Fredo (just PLEASE don't make him gay, like that asshole Winegardner did ).

Since June 2012 is coming up and I had just read a thread that said that Paramount was blocking Puzzo's son from producing a third Godfather book, I am wondering if this project is in fact going to go to print?
