From what I heard on the television news reports, Jones did this (the Koran burning) a couple of weeks back, but at the time it got very little press coverage. This was quite unlike all the uproar Jones caused a few months back when he threatened to burn the Koran, but backed off at the last moment once he got nationwide media coverage of his intentions.

Now, in a sort of delayed-reaction retaliation, comes the riots, murders, etc.

Let me say right here and now, that I am no fan of Jones. Quite the opposite. I feel he is a dangerous idiot. For him to say to the media the other day that he is not responsible for the riot and murders in Afghanistan seems a bit disingenuous to me. That said, his statement (and I'm paraphrasing) that radical Muslim extremists will use any excuse to kill has, IMO, more than a few grains of truth in it.
