The case of Franzese is one of the best examples of how far the government is willing to go to get one man. The rule of law means nothing to the mafia, but what does it mean to the government? I'm left to wonder. The rule of law does not seem to matter if you're prosecuting people like Sonny Franzese. The guy did over 30 years for a crime he had absolutely nothing to do with. This is an absolute fact. Barry Gibbs, the guy Louie Eppolito framed for murder, spent 19 years inside. The city of New York wound up paying him $10 million for the inconvenience. Why should Franzese be treated differently. How much money would an innocent man deserve for a full year in prison? I'd say at least $1 million for each year.
