City Island Waterfront home for "only" $1.475 million.

Rarely does a house have so much to say. From the front yard to the backyard to original 1958 appliances, and even underneath, 75 Ditmars St. on City Island is one of the most interesting waterfront homes ever built in the city of New York. Angelina Jolie slept here, too.

The tour starts in the backyard. With a sprawling grass lawn leading to stone steps descending to a private beach, the house has the feel of a small Kennedy compound on the water’s edge. The owner’s husband used to launch kayaks from there. The Harlem Yacht Club, one of the oldest yacht clubs in the city, is next door. Loose lanyards from nearby sailboats sound like chimes on windy days. There’s even an old shipwreck stuck in wetlands yards from the shore. The Manhattan skyline is visible in the distance.

Somehow, the front yard is just as special. It’s a full garden with 68 rose bushes and wildly diverse perennials that give it the feel of an organized jungle. The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, used to work at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden...

City Island Bronx Home

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.
