But she was the victim here, so why would they hide this tragedy? I heard one defense that was akin to the "protecting of a rape victim's identity" school of thought. Not that I necessarily disagree with that on a privacy level for Lara's sake, but I just don't buy it (when I consider this was CBS who sat on it).
CBS withheld the story for the sake of their employee's privacy, I applaud them for that.
Sure, this story is newsworthy, but I think the woman's privacy in light of the nature of this crime is paramount.
