The man comes to work on time, makes millions of dollars for his co-workers and is said to be a good father to his children. What's really troubling is the only time he doesn't show up for work is when some annoyed family member drags him to rehab. I've been following this case closely and I don't know about you, but I sort of feel bad for the guy. You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. We should all be able to party and have a good time. Are you with me?

Not too long ago after a night of partying they found his car in a canyon by L.A. and were wondering if he was in it and if he was alright, etc. He said it was stolen. I believe they said that Sheen has reported is car stolen 3 times in a year. I'm still am not sure if he knows what happened. rolleyes

At first this Party guy made me laugh, but now I kind of feel sorry for him. Yes, it seems as though the guy does have serious alcohol/substance abuse problems and really needs help. The local news today is reporting that he is getting help at his home. Evidently every "substance" abuse center in Southern CA was trying to get him to go there. I don't know how it works, but apparently he's at an "at-home" program.

VG - Haha, very funny.

Well this is what CBS gets for tolerating his earlier, rather public episodes and now they're effectively lost several episodes for this season.

According to the local L.A. radio station (K-earth 101) Charlie's father (Martin Sheen) and his mother are going to go to court to file for conservatorship because they say that this Charlie is not taking this house treatment seriously. They want to commit him in a rehab center. This guy definitely needs help. I hope he gets it. He's self-destructing. frown

FYI, they went on to say that it was amazing how after his numerous partying and escapades and all nighters that he'd always show up to work on time and always knew his lines. Go figure!!!! confused

He is a character for sure but certainly appears to be on a slippery slope....which is a shame. I hope he gets himself sorted out!

Most of us go through life trying to do the best we can as parents, spouses, and citizens. We go through struggles to provide ourselves and families with financial security. Many of us don't achieve that, so it weighs on us throughout our lives. Here we have this cafone who will never have to worry about money - that concern is lifted from his shoulders. All he has to do is be moral and illustrate good behavior. What's so hard about that? What's his excuse? Weak-willed, stupid people. I can't stand them.

From what I understand, that family member was Martin Sheen, who is perhaps desparate to save the life of his son.

And regardless of who 'dragged' him to rehab, maybe 'concerned' is a more apt word than 'annoyed' to describe that relative.

Charlie seems to have much more than a substance problem. He has a personality/behavior problem, one that will most likely make him unresponsive to any type of rehab, anywhere. He's one of those souls who will apparently need to hit rock solid bottom before having even one iota of a clue of the trouble he's in. The longer the network keeps him because he is the star of a monster hit show...the lower he will sink.

Sometimes, showing up to work on time isn't quite enough.

It amazes me that his family is trying to get a judge to grant them conservatorship. Wow. I thought they only did that to the psychotic. I'm glad Charlie ain't budging and prefers the "home program" package. He really needs good people around him. I mean honestly, what kind of a family tries take away your liberty over a couple of drinks? Martin Sheen ought to be ashamed of himself.

The problem?

I'm just curious, Vinny. Is it addiction in general that you don't believe in, or just whether or not Charlie himself is an addict?

I ask this because I know that the concept of alclohol/drug addiction as a "disease" doesn't really go over well in Europe, as opposed to here in the States, where we get to blame our mommies and daddies for our whole lives lol.

You must be joking. You have to be.

But if you are not than let me enlighten you a bit here my friend. Charlie Sheen has a whole lot more than just a problem with a "couple of drinks."

His problems go way back into the 1980's and over the years have progressively become worse and more frequent.

He has had a continued pornography addiction, one that eventually affected his wife and his own children!!

His constant partying with prostitutes included drinking and doing drugs while he was married. His drinking and drug addictions have lead to his abusing his wife, lead to domestic abuse. He has threatened to murder his wife and just recently locked a woman in a hotel bathroom after going on yet another drug and alcohol binge. The list goes on and on, his abusiveness towards the ladies in his life, those around him and even his own children are the result of not just a "couple" of drinks" but the result of the progressive and more frequent abuse of drugs and alcohol. The man is sick. He has a disease and cannot control himself. He is living on borrowed time. He needs help before it is too late.

The one thing that I DO agree with you saying is that he needs good people around him. And what better person, or good person to reach out to him than his own father?

Many times when people have problems like that their friends and relatives do not confront them or take steps to end the issue because of misguided love and fear.

Of course the rest of us are not so restrained. Sheen should have had the book thrown at him quite some time ago. A year or so in jail would probably do wonders for his outlook on life.

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

He has a history of abusing women, and don't forget he's a rat, too. He gave up Heidi Fleiss before breakfast when they questioned him about her.

If this was the sheet of an "average" person, you better believe he would have seen some jail time.

• 1990: Sheen accidentally shoots then-fiancée Kelly Preston in the arm. As flesh wounds have a funny way of killing the mood, the engagement is called off shortly thereafter. It's during this same year that he enters rehab for the first time to treat an alcohol addiction.

• 1995: Two words: Heidi Fleiss. Sheen admits to being a client of the so-called Hollywood Madam, copping to having spent $50,000 for the, um, services of her call girls.

• 1995: Two months after marrying model Donna Peele, Sheen was sued by a UCLA student who claimed he struck her in the head back in 1994 after she refused him sex. The case was settled out of court.

• 1997: Sheen pleads no contest to battery charges brought by former girlfriend, model-actress Brittany Ashland, who claims Sheen threw her onto his kitchen floor and split her lip. He earned a year's suspended sentence, two years' probation and a $2,800 fine.

• 1998: Sheen enters lockdown rehab after being hospitalized for a drug overdose. The get-clean action was necessary after his father, Martin Sheen, turned him in for violating his parole.

• 2005: Denise Richards files for divorce while pregnant, publicly accusing Sheen of "inappropriate behavior," including dalliances with prostitutes, gambling problems and drug and alcohol problems, that could negatively impact his daughters' upbringing. Sheen denies everything, calling the claims "laughable and inane."

• 2009: Sheen is arrested on felony menacing charges and spends Christmas in a Colorado jail after wife Brooke Mueller tells cops the actor threatened her with a knife. He was released on bail.

• Feb. 23, 2010: Sheen voluntarily checks himself into rehab, a move his rep referred to as simply a "preventative measure."

• February and June, 2010: On two separate occasions vehicles were stolen from Sheen's home and driven off nearby cliffs. It's unclear if Sheen specifically was targeted, but no suspects were ever found.

•Aug. 2, 2010: Sheen pleads guilty to misdemeanor third-degree assault for his Christmas attack on Mueller. He was ordered to spend 30 days in rehab, undergo domestic abuse counseling and was placed on probation.

• Oct. 26, 2010: Sheen is taken to the hospital after cops are called for a disturbance in his room at New York's Plaza Hotel. He was with porn star Capri Anderson at the time, who later went public with her story, claiming Sheen got physical with her and that she was forced to hide in a closet. Sheen was hospitalized after the incident, though his rep chalked it up to "an allergic reaction to some medication." Anderson went on to threaten Sheen with a lawsuit alleging battery and false imprisonment, but no charges were ever filed, and rumors circulated that the duo ended up settling out of court.

• Nov. 1, 2010: Sheen formally files for divorce from Mueller.

• Jan. 12, 2011: Sheen misses a day of work on Two and a Half Men after spending the weekend in Las Vegas (where a porn convention was being held), though his rep attributed Sheen's on-set absence to an "ear infection."

• Jan. 14, 2011: While speaking at the Television Critics Association panel, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said the network had "a high level of concern" over Sheen's recent misbehavior.

• Jan. 27, 2011: After an early morning 911 call is placed, Sheen is transported from his home via ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Father Martin Sheen and ex-wife Denise Richards rushed to his side, though Sheen was released later the same day. Rumors abounded as the cause of his hospitalization—his hernia, a bender, or some combination of the two being the most repeated culprits—though no official word was given, other than that Sheen was suffering from "severe abdominal pain." He is due back on the set of Two and a Half Men next week.

• Jan 28, 2011: Well, so much for that back-to-work plan. Sheen again checks into rehab to deal with what ails him. Which, if we're to go by his behavior, is a lot.

I know we may all have our moments, but this guy really really needs help and I hope he gets it. Last I heard he'll be back at work Monday. frown If he refuses help though, what can be done?

Anyway...

I have a very hard time believing the tabloids. They are the true rats. I seriously doubt Charlie Sheen has ever assaulted anyone in his life. Look at him. Does he look like a violent person? If you followed the case involving his ex wife, you'd know she recanted her story and admitted she had lied! She even admitted being at fault for the entire thing and that HE, not her, had been defending himself! And that pornstar in NY was clearly lying to get some money. Don't even get me started on that one my man. I didn't believe a word of it and I watched the interviews thoroughly. Her fake cries almost made me wanna vomit.

As far as him having problems with drugs and alcohol, I don't see it. His co-workers on Two and a Half Man all say the same thing. He's always on work on time, is always well prepared and there's never any problems. It seems his only problem is his family.

And porn addiction? Is there really such a thing? I don't know any man who doesn't like porn and most of the married ones I know treat their wives and children with absolute class.

I ask this because I know that the concept of alclohol/drug addiction as a "disease" doesn't really go over well in Europe, as opposed to here in the States, where we get to blame our mommies and daddies for our whole lives lol.

I believe drinking and drugs can be a problem. I've had friends who've hit rock bottom by abusing these things. But no I don't believe in that "disease" label for a second. Tell that to somebody fighting Glioblastoma multiforme and you might see a shotgun pointed at you. It's an insult to people who are actually fighting diseases.

But I see nothing wrong with blaming mommy and daddy. Especially if they done you wrong. If your father is Joseph Fritzl then you should be allowed to express your feelings. If there's hate, let it out. Cleanse yourself. It's good.

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

I must respectfully tell you that you are wrong. The person sipping all of those drinks at once actually calmed down after doing so. It was BEFORE having those drinks that this person became violent and almost took out an entire restaurant staff from the manager on down!! I think you may have mixed up the timeline of events. wink

But again, I ask Vinny, what does or should a violent person look like?
