I hope that he didn't do what people are suspecting he did. I think many suicide attempts fail because the person really doesn't want to go through with it. if you really want to go, it is really simple and i could think of a few sure fire ways to do it..alot of times it is people who are crying out for help..i dont see why, there are plenty of places that will give you free help..only my 2 cents

[quote=Lilo]LANSING, Mich. – A group of friends and family is obscenely rich after winning a nearly $129 million jackpot with a lottery ticket bought at a Detroit-area porn shop. Wasn't the big MegaMillions winner from a few drawings ago ($100+ million) also from Michigan? Yes, yes he was. Well he was a yooper, which still counts... As a former yooper - I think I am offended by that remark! Born in the thriving community of Iron Mountain, Michigan (known as the home of Tom Izzo, Steve Mariucci, and me!)

Just before Thanksgiving, I was sorting down a pile of papers, newspaper clippings and similar items in my workroom in an attempt to make everything "presentable" for company. While I was fighting this ultimately losing battle, I came across this item from a newspaper that, though a couple of years old, was so excruciating that I felt I just had to share it. If you're squeamish, you may not want to read any further... Painful Sacrifice For TeamLONDON - A Welsh rugby fan lopped off his own testicles after Wales beat England at rugby, a British newspaper reported today. Geoff Huish, 26, was so convinced England would win Saturday's match that he told fellow drinkers at a social club he would perform the gruesome self-amputation: "If Wales wins I'll cut my b---s off," the Daily Mirror said. Friends thought he was joking. But after the game, Huish went home and used a knife to do the deed, then walked back to the bar to show his pals. He was taken to a hospital where he remained in serious condition, the paper said. ************************* Signor V.

Well, it's near the end of the semester and I'm beginning to calculate grades. Some students haven't completed all assignments. Should they flunk the semester for not doing so? Do you grade on a curve? No. What you see is what you get.

Do you grade on a curve? No. What you see is what you get. Well then they should get whatever grade they deserve according to whatever rules you gave them at the beginning of the semester. It depends on whether your rules allow for not completing all assignments and thus getting a C (ie. someone did all their projects but one) or if your rules made it clear that in order to avoid a D/F they had to do every assignment. Either way as long as they knew what the expectations were ahead of time they shouldn't be surprised.

Call Girl Ring Busted-included adult stars and international escorts. Metro Detroiters helped build Miami Companions into one of the country's largest escort services, paying up to $500 an hour to have sex with prostitutes and porn stars at area hotels.
Detroit also is where the sex ring unraveled.
The U.S. Attorney's Office and FBI busted the international escort service in July, indicted the owners and three employees on various prostitution or money-laundering charges and seized a potentially explosive piece of evidence. Federal prosecutors are threatening to wield the ring's not-so-little black book bulging with tens of thousands of customer names and possibly call clients as witnesses if the Miami Companions criminal case proceeds to trial in U.S. District Court in Detroit.
Federal court records, FBI files obtained by The Detroit News and interviews with defense lawyers illustrate how a husband-and-wife team in Miami ran an Internet-based sex empire that dispatched waves of prostitutes to hotels and beachfront villas around the world and listed Detroit as one of its busiest stops in the United States.
Few tour stops had more clients than Metro Detroit, where johns spent more than $167,000 between March 2007 and January 2009 on Miami Companions prostitutes, according to the feds, despite a prolonged recession, high unemployment and thousands of lost manufacturing jobs.
The clients helped Miami Companions rake in more than $4 million, which fueled a lavish lifestyle for the ring's accused pimp and madam, according to court records....Complete Article on Miami Companions

Evidently Chuck Berry was taken ill last night during a concert in Chicago. Geez, 84 and still rockin' & rollin'? And, still doing the duck walk. God bless him. I'm trying to think of who's left of the 50's rock icons???? Fats Domino comes to mind. Anyway, I never saw Chuck Berry in concert, but like his music. TIS About an hour into a rapidly-deteriorating concert at the Congress Theatre Saturday night, Chuck Berry slumped over an accompanist's keyboard before being helped offstage.
The 84-year-old rock and roll legend and a backing band of three Chicago musicians attempted to resume the show for a packed house about 15 minutes later, but Berry almost immediately was taken off again to be checked by paramedics who had been called to the scene. Chuck Berry

TIS I think Chuck and BB are about the same age. Chuck's the King and one of a few still left of that generation of early rock-n-rollers. Ike and Bo are gone of course. Little Richard and Fats are still around. Jerry Lee Lewis is still alive. So are Duane Eddy and Mickey Baker. Link Wray's gone. Dale Hawkins just passed. So it goes. I've seen Chuck Berry in concert a few times over the years. He can vary wildly in quality. I hope he retires (along with BB) but at least he's doing what he wants to do which is more than some of us can say.

Albion and The Purple Gang A member of the Purple Gang popped up, improbably, as a murder suspect in a recent episode of the "Detroit 1-8-7" TV series. Not that the Purples weren't involved in murder, but their heyday was during Prohibition, 1919-33, so even a young gangster back then would have to be in his 90s now, and the "1-8-7" bad guy clearly wasn't. Former Purples also are a prominent part of "To Account for Murder," a new novel by Michigan Appeals Judge William Whitbeck that's set amid the rampant corruption that infected Michigan government and politics in the late 1940s. Gang members supposedly were let out of a Jackson prison to assassinate a state senator, the true crime around which Whitbeck spins his fictional tale. In short, the Purples -- also suspected by Chicago police of being involved in the 1929 St. Valentine's Day massacre -- are nothing for Michigan to be proud of. But the City of Albion isn't shy about claiming the gang as its own. Its Downtown Development Authority's Web site, www.albiondda.org, even offers a map for a walking tour of the Purples' haunts in the historic city, where remnants of the gang set up a post-Prohibition headquarters after their leaders were imprisoned. Tour sites range from an alley where gang members used to rough up their enemies to the site of the junkyard that was a front business for illegal activity and the police station where several Purples were locked up....
