It's sort of been out there for years and was one of the between-commercial notes when Bravo was showing the film a few years ago (that there were 'real life' differences between the two actors). Actually Caan was directly asked about that fight scene by the host of Inside the Actor's Studio.
I believe his reply was..."I hated him."
