BINGO!!!!

I don't know that he actually had a 'fear' of winning, but you're right, all McCain's energy went into getting the nomination, he waited 8 years and literally HAD to have it after losing to Bush in 2000. After that, he appeared content to virtually hand the presidency to either Hillary or Obama, whoever the Dem nominee might be.

And yes again...while Palin added an excitement to the ticket, once the banking crisis hit in Sept. 2008 he would've been far better off having chosen Romney.
