There are some players who do go out of their way to express themselves or jaw at refs. It's no accident that Kobe is the one pictured here. But I think refs know the difference between someone who shakes their head or waves his hand dismissively while running back down the court and someone who decides to give his opinion on the eyesight of the referee or the intimate habits of the referee's mother. In a recent preseason game against the Nets, Boston’s Paul Pierce punched the air in frustration after being whistled for a foul. He then looked around in curiosity after hearing the whistle again.
