A study has shown that men with long ring fingers could be three times more likely to develop prostate cancer. Doctors have found that men whose ring fingers extend much farther than their index finger present more of a risk. The findings were conclusive, and now doctors may begin taking a longer look at the hands of men when assessing prostate cancer risk. In the study, blood tests confirmed that men with long ring fingers, primarily on their right hand, have higher levels of prostate specific antigen, which is also known as PSA. The chemical is found in high levels in the blood when cancer is present.
