Sure, December of all months is a GREAT month to have a spare $600 to blow on a book! ...but then again, maybe Santa's elves could reproduce it -- they can't make Wiis after two years, apparently, so why not a picture book.

I still don't get it. I don't think I've ever seen a $700 book. Unless the pages are lined with gold, I see no reason why this book is $700, or $600. Yeah? What about $1800 each for the other two more-limited art editions -- $3600 to get both... I may be a fan and collector, and I may've spent a few thou on this stuff over the years, but out of principle, fock that!

Wow, I am just now seeing this thread because Geoff mentioned it. It sure would be nice to have but damn!!! $700??? Are the pages gold-lined or what? That's outrageous. I agree with JL though, that in time it will be much cheaper...but even if it goes down a couple hundred, it's still a hell of a lot for a book...even if it would be cool to have. TIS

It was originally limited to only 1000 copies, leather-bound, plus it was signed. I'm guessing that's the only difference.

So, has anyone picked up the $44 Amazon version, and was it worth it? Got a copy today. It's worth it for any "Godfather" fan. After only a quick view of it: 1. It's a big, heavy book; perfect for a coffee table. 2. Many of the photos have been published before, but there are some "new" pictures that I've never seen before. Some behind-the-scenes photos (from the movie sets) and some "candid" cast pix. The double page pictures are particularly nice to see. 3. It's printed on a heavy stock paper which gives it a nice feel but many of the photos are not crystal clear. 4. It has excerpts from previously printed materials (i.e. "Playboy" interviews with Pacino and FFC).
