Hey guys,

I'm an admin at The Godfather Wiki and I want to invite you all to visit this Wiki. The reason for this is that we can use a lot more contributors to built up a community and I thought this was the best place for it to ask. The last couple of months this site is hugely improved and has become a pretty good Wiki, but still there is a lot of work to be done.

We've already had a lot of 'kids' (who only played that video game) comming to this Wiki and messing things up with their own imagination.. I know there are a lot of "real" Godfather fans up here and who are more than welcome to help to further improve this Wiki.

Remember that this message isn't meant to spam or to compete with this site whatsoever, but just a friendly request to share this with you guys.

Btw, I forgot to mention that you see advertisements if you're not logged in. But if you make an account (which is free and you can use for all the other Wiki's as well) almost all of the advertisements will go away. Makes it a lot better to view the site and navigate.

The wiki now has a completely new skin and user interface. I also changed the lay-out so it is more user friendly imo.

It's a good wiki Sonny, and congrats on becoming an administrator. But there is a problem.

The game storylines are not canon, or at least frequently contradict the storylines of the novel and the movies. It seems they're jumbled together with all the movie info.

Still a great wiki though. I've learned more about the B-characters.

Thanks Barrett. I completely agree with you about the video game. But I'm not the only administrator on this wiki and especially the younger editors are fan of those video games so I try to respect their views. If it was my call only, there wouldn't be that much about the games on this wiki as I'm not really a fan of the games myself. I only played them shortly, but I found them unrealistic and too childish. I did however improve many articles about the games by posting better quality pictures, but I did that only to improve the wiki. You're ofcourse welcome to change things yourself.

I'm not very good with wikis, but I do plenty of grammatical/factual editing. So yes I can help. UESP wiki, a wiki for the Elder Scrolls series has an interesting setup. They have 4 "namespaces", one for each chapter of the series (Morrowind, Oblivion, Daggerfall, Arena). So for instance, an article pertaining to Morrowind (say, items) would be listed like: "Morrowind: Items". The same article, but involving Daggerfall, would be "Daggerfall: Items". It's very hard to implement, maybe it could be a longtime goal, only saying it's an interesting solution. This would work like: "GF1: Rocco Lampone", "GF2: Rocco Lampone".

But the alternative, which is much easier, is to divide all the information between subsections. Like,

==Rocco Lampone==

"Godfather 1"
Rocco Lampone makes his bones on Paulie Gatto..

"Godfather 2"
Rocco is now in charge of Nevada security...

"In the Novels""
etc...

"In Godfather: The Game"
Rocco accompanies Aldo Trapani...

This can be structured in any way really, the important thing is just to keep it consistent. If this were implemented, editors who wish to include the videogames can do so, and editors who want more organization have a template to follow. I can help out if you want, just like I said, no good with wiki markup.

Good feedback. I know the UESP wiki pretty well myself from back in the days when playing one of the greatest games ever: Oblivion. It's one of the best organized wiki's I've seen.

You're ideas are good, but the thing is that this wiki maintains (like most other wiki's) a so called in-universe perspective for all character articles. This means that the character articles are written from their world's perspective and that in the normal section of the the articles there shouldn't be references to real world or out-of-universe elements, except for the behind the scenes or trivia section.

But I agree the game is a different matter so there should be made an exception. As a matter of fact this wiki already has this division at certain character articles, although not for the majority.

So if you see any contradictions due to the video game at character articles feel free to correct it. I personally would very much encourage this. This actually is the reason I brought this wiki up here (see my first post) and I would vert much appreciate any help from people up here who know a lot about the Godfather (probably more than I do).

Btw, when I first started editing on this wiki almost one year ago I was a complete novice myself, but looking back now, it isn't as difficult as it looks.

So if any of you need any help to participate I'll be much willing to help.

The Godfather Wiki is one of the winners of the 2010 wikis contest on Wikia.com.

I've also restyled the wiki (again) and gave it a more appropriate, professional look and uploaded many new still from the films. And someone made a very cool logo for the wiki.

But the best of all: I've removed all the non-canonical video game information from the main sections of the character articles and put it in separate sections, so I basically minimised it.

And I've also corrected the timeline based on the findings of members on this forum.

So I would invite you'all to take a look and see how it has become.

PS. I tested the wiki only with the latest Internet Explorer and Firefox, so I'm not entirely sure how it will look on other browsers.

I can now proudly say that I'm finally content with the skin. So the skin is now final!

You should see how it looks like now. I can especially use some help with the content of the cast and crew, which is something that still needs expansion.
