Really? Gosh I miss those days. I love to be pampered. ohwell Do they clean off your windshield as well?

It's been years since they had someone pump your gas for you in my area. About 15 years ago there was maybe one station I knew of that did, and I went there. Alas, but slowly they weeded that out. Isn't life a bitch? grin

Gotta love economics. More people use it? Let's charge more for it! Money grubbing whores.

A Shell station had gas this morning at 8:30 for $2.71 at 10 am when I drove by it went down to $2.47 1 hour later $2.69. How can a station change it's prices 3 times in one day?

Hey it's been awhile since we griped about gas prices. Notice how this year the basterd-fux have been raising the price slooooooowly, by the penny. Yeah, those crafty fux think some of us weren't paying attention. aHA! gotcha!

I'm sure you've heard the little allegory..... throw a frog in a pot of boiling water and frog jumps out; throw a frog in a pot of tepid water and it stays there. Turn up the heat slowly and it doesn't jump out; it cooks to death.

The gas prices here suddenly was increased to $2.48 per gallon from $0.4 per gallon, with a limit of 132 gallons per month for each car. There's also a 16 gallon/month subsidized limit available for the time being at $1.4 per gallon for each car.

Just bear in mind that a simple worker gets paid around $283 a month.

It is just outrageous. The gasoline for diesel motors has risen 21 times what it was before. It is unbelievable. Not sure now we should laugh at the absurdity of this, or we should cry.

We in the states most likely think that gas in the Middle East is like a drink of water over here. Those increases are insane. Good Luck.

We might have oil, but as far as refinery goes, we seem to be more eager to have a frakking nuclear power plant. sick

With sanctions, the gas we get from our refineries is very poor in quality, you can't see very far in big cities due to pollution.

Didn't President Ratface just announce subsidies cuts?

That'll flyover like a lead balloon, I'm sure.

Yeah, hence the new prices I mentioned.

BTW, that subsidized $1.4 per gallon is reduced to 13 gallons per month, and here I thought it would be 16 gallons. ohwell

You know, the sad thing is we probably get used to it and more, rather than fighting it. I for one don't want to have subsidized gas. But I do want to get paid like the people of countries that pay just as much for gas, let alone for a citizen of a country that is sleeping on oil.

Seems Hamas needs more and more money. mad

Take a look at this, it is comparing the rapes with soda bottles last year at the prison and the new gas prices of these days, as the new sort of rape for everyone:

Iraqi Kurds push for recognition of oil deals
Published: Tuesday, 28 Dec 2010

BAGHDAD - Iraq's Kurds said Tuesday they won't resume oil exports from their self-ruled territory unless the central government recognizes the contracts they have already signed on their own with international energy companies.

The Kurds' condition could foil ambitious Iraqi plans to raise daily oil exports to 2.25 million barrels in 2011 from the current 1.9 million. Oil revenues account for nearly 95 percent of Iraq's budget as the energy-rich nation tries to rebuild the country after decades of wars and international sanctions.

Since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion that toppled the regime of Saddam Hussein, the Kurds have sought greater control over oil in their autonomous region in northern Iraq while Baghdad has argued that oil is a national resource under the central government's control.

Ali Hussein Balo, an adviser to the Kurdish Ministry of Natural Resources said the crude-rich region can significantly contribute to the nation's target of raising oil exports next year by shipping 150,000 barrels a day out of the country, but only if all "our deals are recognized officially in a signed paper by Baghdad," he told the Associated Press.

Iraqi Kurds have signed more than two dozen production sharing agreements with mid-sized companies from Turkey, U.K., Austria, U.S., Canada, Korea and China. Under those deals, the companies are entitled to a share of the profits from the oil produced.

The deals are deemed illegal by the Baghdad central government that has only awarded 15 oil and gas service contracts to international companies since 2008.

Baghdad managed to negotiate more attractive terms in its deals, paying developers just a flat fee for each barrel produced, rather than surrendering a share of the profits. They do not recognize the Kurdish deals and refuse to honor the production sharing agreements.

The Kurds started exports in June 2009. They were halted few months later amid disagreements with Baghdad over payments.

Iraq's new oil minister, Abdul-Karim Elaibi, last week declared the dispute over how private companies accounted for equipment costs and other expenses for reimbursement has been settled, clearing the way for the exports to resume.

Elaibi said Baghdad would receive all the oil produced for export and would pay only the costs incurred by the developers.

"Baghdad wants everything free of charge," Balo said by phone from Irbil, the capital of the Kurdish autonomous region in northern Iraq. "We can't do that since we are committed to the companies to have a share in the produced oil," he said.

In 2004, the Oslo-based DNO became the first independent Western oil company to secure an oil deal in Iraq after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion by signing a production sharing contract with the Kurds to develop the Tawke field in Dahouk province.

Gas price hikes could hamper Big 3
But Detroit carmakers are better prepared for $3 fuel than in past
Christine Tierneyand David Shepardson / The Detroit News

Auto executives were upbeat at this year's Detroit auto show, buoyed by a sales recovery that's gaining momentum, rising profits and renewed consumer interest in American cars and trucks.

But a rise in gas prices is casting a shadow across the industry's otherwise sunny outlook.

Prices at the pump have climbed above the $3-a-gallon level that catches drivers' notice, and Detroit's automakers are more exposed to rising gas prices than most of their rivals.

General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC displayed an impressive lineup of small and fuel-efficient cars at the North American International Auto Show. But they still generate their biggest profits from light truck sales.

The U.S. automakers benefited last year from a rebound in truck and SUV sales, underpinned by stable gas prices. Two years earlier, truck sales had collapsed when gas prices surged above $4 a gallon.

Gas prices fell back during the recession, but now they're rising again. Since late August, nationwide prices have risen 15 percent to $3.09 a gallon for regular gasoline. In Michigan, regular gas retails for $3.12 a gallon, on average.

"As fuel prices go up, people put more emphasis on fuel economy," said Ford Chief Executive Alan Mulally. "We saw previously that as gas prices get above $3, people start making different decisions."

Ford's business plan assumes gas prices will be in a range above current prices, said Mark Fields, president of the Dearborn automaker's North and Latin American operations.

Get ready for gas prices to continue upward....The IEA says 89 million barrels a day are required for 2011 and the world can't produce over 87, so the only way to control demand is with price!

We have no state sponsored oil companies like semi-socialist China...we have world wide oil companies (Chevron, exxon etc.) but we don't have a "team" like socialist China does and they're beating us to it all right now.

The Chinese are going to be drilling in the gulf of MEXICO soon, while the US will be left out. THAT should put things in perspecitve.

Since I retired, I don't drive nearly as much as I use to. I sort of forget to see what gas is going for since I don't travel that far. However, I did hear that it will surpass the $3.00 mark at least here in CA. I'll see if it did and check back. wink

Edit: Ok I just check gas buddy for my zip code. Damn, it is high with $3.21 being the lowest and $3.45 being the highest. What a ripoff!!!!

Geez, I don't know of ANY station where you don't have to pump your own gas. About 10 years ago, I had a regular station I went to (a couple miles out of my way actually) just because they'd pump your gas. It sounds so out dated now....at least in California. I think I'll move to Jersey just to get my gas pumped. lol
