State Sen. Roy Ashburn (R-Calif.), the fierce opponent of gay rights who was arrested last week for drunk driving after leaving a gay nightclub, confirmed in a radio interview Monday that he is gay.
"I'm gay," Ashburn told local radio host Inga Barks before returning to the Senate for the first time since his arrest. "Those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long."
Ashburn, a 55-year-old divorced father of four, claimed his 15-year crusade against proposed gay-rights laws in the California statehouse stemmed from his desire to vote the way his constituents wanted.

This is a true story; it happened yesterday: I teach a theatrical makeup course at a local college. We started discussing makeup techniques used in GF and it turned out that one of my students really likes the film. So, I started doing my Don Corleone impression and everyone reacted with amazement.  (Much to my surprise!) Anyway, they demanded more, and more I gave them. I admit it: I am a Ham. It was an offer I couldn't refuse. Perhaps I went into the wrong profession... Signor V.

I most certainly do remember the cab ride from hell! I don't think it will ever be possible for me to forget it! Robert De Niro set to play Vince Lombardi in movieBRISTOL, Conn. – Robert De Niro is set to play Vince Lombardi in an upcoming movie.
ESPN announced Tuesday that the Academy Award-winning actor has agreed to play the Hall of Fame coach in the film it is developing with Andell Entertainment and the NFL.
"Lombardi" will chronicle the years in which he transformed the Green Bay Packers from the NFL's worst team to league champions. It is tentatively scheduled to be released in 2012 during the weekend between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl.
Screenwriter Eric Roth, who won an Oscar for "Forrest Gump," has also signed on to the project. De Niro's Tribeca Productions will join the producing group. A director has yet to be chosen.
I find this a little odd. Pacino did it, but (modern-day) De Niro as a coach? Hmmm...

Sometimes it sounds like the TV’s volume was suddenly turned up. When she has these experiences — sometimes even at school — the kindergartener from Pipersville, Pa., looks as if she’s waking from a nightmare, says her mother Danielle Watts.
Diagnosed with a neurological condition known as Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, Olivia usually keeps her dreamlike visions to herself. She first complained of people and objects getting bigger last year. Her symptoms occur in spurts lasting from seconds to 15 minutes and persist for up to two weeks, and then, they can vanish for months just as mysteriously as they occurred. These occurrences are “mini migraines exploding in [her] brain,” a neurologist explained to Olivia’s mother, who suffers from standard migraines herself.
A rare form of migraine, Alice in Wonderland Syndrome causes people to see their own bodies or those of others or everyday objects askew. It typically occurs without a headache, but is usually associated with personal or family history of standard migraines

Oh, dear. My dad was in the Navy, and I don't remember him telling me about inappropriate tickle fights aboard the old USS Bennington. I think Massa ought to just give up the ghost, come to terms with who he is and move on. But then again stories like this are too funny to be fiction: Massa also addressed his record in the Navy. In the 1990s, while at sea, he found his bunk mate in the middle of an intimate act. "The other gentlemen was busy remembering his wife; I'll let your imaginations run wild. And I walked in and, instead of embarrassing him, I smacked him on the leg and said, 'You need any help with that, let me know.' And I went to bed. He was so hideously embarrassed, he moved out of the stateroom," he said.   Also, I saw this referenced on Countdown this evening. More on Massa's Navy conduct
