*** Because ALL terrorist attacks are cowardly and that's how leaders usually refer to them. It is cowardly to attack and plan the devastation of thousands of lives, for whatever "cause" one might be representing. Tim McVeigh was a coward, the bombers of the WTC in 1993 were cowards, and the people responsible for today's events are cowards.
Regardless of our political preferences, let's not pick on the President right now; at times like this he needs our support and faith.
