You know, I actually planned on mentioning it here earlier and looked it up to see if it'd been discussed - I saw that you and SB had different "versions" of what it was, and it sounds like what you described is what we make! For us, it's a New Year's tradition. As kids, my two cousins would come over and help me and my brother form the dough (often into goofy designs), while my dad and his brother fried it. Fun times.
