Did anyone have Casey Johnson?

She was only 30 years old, and it looks like another prescription drug overdose.

That's like 5 high-profile, prescription-medication related deaths in the last year or so: Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Adam Goldstein, Brittany Murphy and now Casey Johnson.

Yet you never hear about cracking down on the celebrity obsessed doctors out in California (okay, New York, too).

California really does need to get its priorities straight, though. If a celebrity commits a crime, no harm no foul. If he wants another prescription, hey, no problem.

I like California. My favorite uncle is retired in Palm Springs and I LOVE visiting him out there. The average person out there is layed back and a pleasure to hang out with. But the freakin celebrities are worshipped for no good reason. Now some of them are paying the price for it.

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I never heard of Casey Johnson til yesterday either. It is too bad.

PB, California loves their celebrities and yes I agree. These doctors need to be held accountable. I think, sadly, even doctors get so star struck that they "can't" say no to a celebrity and/or get paid tons of money to supply them their fix. frown

Just a thought: Most of these stars have more than one doctor which is good for the doctor who can always say, I only prescribed this particular drug and the other doctor can say the same, so basically the blame would be on the victim for not telling the doctor what "other" meds he/she was on.

There have to be controls placed on the pharmacies, Tis. Threy're called "controlled substances" for a reason. One person shouldn't be able to fill the same controlled substance twice in one month, even if they're from two different doctors (as a starting point).

I had never heard of Johnson, but she was certainly living recklessly, based on the posted bio.

I feel terrible for her father. My God, after the Jets won, only 12 hours earlier, the guy must have been floating on air.

He had a really abnormal childhood, Tis. Between being a "little person," his kidney problems, and the stress of being a child star, it's a miracle he hasn't gone postal yet.

I'll tell ya, that Mister Drummond really screwed those kids up.

That's as good an explanation for the Jets making the playoffs as any.

You know I never heard of Gumby until I moved to California. eek Years ago I asked my sister if she heard of Gumby and she had no idea either. Is it possible he/it didn't play in Michigan? At any rate, I never watched it, but I think my kids occasionally did. Why, I missed all the fun. smile

Congrats Capo

I read a story that Dennis Hopper was supposedly on his death bead. I know he has prostate cancer, but the story mentioned the National Enquirer, so I hesitate to believe it. Although, sometimes they are right.

Anyway, I hope it's not true. frown

One of my favorite R&B singers, Teddy Pendergrass, died yesterday at age 59. He, along with Barry White, was an absolute joy to listen to as they did their romantic ballads in those deep voices.

R.I.P. Teddy, and thanks for the great hours of listening to ya.

I found this a stupid thread from the beginning. A pool about who's dead first and who has the most points, but I don't make any fuss of it.

But congratulating members because they had one correct is way out the line for me. Imagine family of Rohmer reads this? How would you find that? That people voted your mom dies this year, and when it happens: CONGRATS to the one who voted correct....

(I just wanted to say it...nothing more)
