If they're from Eastern Long Island (and a bit dense), it's possible.

Long Beach was always mostly a summer rental community, used mainly by city dwellers (it's on the Queens border, by Kennedy airport). My Mom and Dad rented a place there every summer when I was growing up.

Eastern Long Islanders have so many of their own beaches, that the trip to Long Beach (up to an hour and a half from Suffolk) might seem silly.

Hope I helped, Oli.
