I just wish there was a middle ground. Because of my parent's insistence on being "good Americans" the second generation lost all history and I'm the only one who speaks Italian (although my brother sometimes believes that he does! LOL). It all got lost, which is sad. However, this new wave of immigrants has been too reluctant to embrace their new country, its language and its ways. I believe that there should be a middle ground, where you embrace the culture of a new homeland, without completely losing your ethnicity.
