I didn't see it live, but saw a clip on the news last night. Poor Taylor Swift looked like she was about to burst into tears, and I don't blame her. Beyonce looked suitably horrified as well. Kanye basically grabbed the microphone out of Taylor's hand and told her he'll let her talk as if he was the king of the world. I agree with you totally about what Beyonce did after. It goes to show that Beyonce is as pretty on the inside as she is on the outside.

I only know Taylor Swift is a singer (country?) and I know Kanye is a singer (rapper?), who lost his mother a year or so ago. But, what an asshole he is. I can't think of any excuse for such an outburst but the only reason I conclude is "sour grapes" for him to make such a fool out of himself. Evidently, I hear Taylor got a standing ovation and what a class act Beyonce was too. They both will get great press while Mr. West will be trying to dig himself out for some time. TIS

west has an history of outbursts...after hurricane katrina hit, and during a telecast of something west said that bush didnt care for black people. Oh that's right. That was him? I guess it is a pattern. Yet, even that doesn't seem as awful/disrespectful as going on stage and grabbing the mike from someone hands as he did. TIS

It may have had something to do with the bottle of cognac that he was openly swigging from on the red carpet. Yea it very well may have something to do with it, but how many of us would be that smashed to do something like that? And, even if he was drinking or high or whatever, it's about as rude as you can get and on a personal level, for him, about as embarrassing as it can get. TIS

Good point SB, it does seem to be a run on bad/rude behavior these days doesn't it? I don't follow tennis, but I know of Serena. She threatened to shove a tennis ball down someone's throat???? She has a sister too right? TIS

Between Kanye, Serena and the Congressman from South Carolina, the US may just have set a record for rude behavior!! At least Serena seems suitably embarrassed by her outburst. Of the three, Serena's outburst was most out of character. When she and her sister started winning titles 7 or 8 years ago, I met them at a place in Palm Beach Gardens called the Waterway Cafe. They really seemed to be sweet kids (even though they have an asshole for a father). I'd just chalk up her outburst to her competitive nature and general frustration at he diminishing skills. Kanye West seems to have pulled this crap before. And a Republican Congressman from South Carolina? Well, did you expect any better?

I know little about either of them, but Kanye West is obviously a punk lowlife. Money just can't buy good manners. True. But he'll probably end up with one of those VH1 date shows like Flava Flave and Rock-of-Love! Apple

...Hey, give Obama credit, Apple. He called West a jackass today! Since you brought it up... While the description was accurate I found it very unbecoming of a U.S. President to allow himself to be heard calling anybody a 'jackass', especially an insignificant MTV celebrity. The entire story was beneath him and he should've kept his mouth shut. And apparently, Obama agrees since he tried to insist that the statement remain 'off the record' (too late, Barack). But I hope people realize that when the press asks him about incidents such as this and the MA arrest a few months ago...they are baiting him to see if he will say something newsworthy. Maybe our Pres is still too new at the job to appreciate the value of the words, 'No comment.' Well, you did bring it up.... Apple

You mean like when Dubya called that reporter an asshole a few years ago? Like that, Apple?
