My daughters got their teeth at a ridiculously late stage - almost 10 months. The old Italians used to say that you should rub wine on their gums for the pain. They put them out of their pain, all right! They got them freaking drunk.

The thing about teething is takes so damn long. They can fuss and drool (and my kids got fevers too)and the tooth won't actually pop thru until a few weeks later.
