Ughh! You just had to do it klyd. frown I'm a sucker for these tear jerker stories. If I had witnessed something like that I'd be in shambles for years to come.

Now I'm gonna be bawling all day.

I know. I was reluctant to do it. The little girl is doing alright though. My daughter, who loves dogs too, invited her to the house for a swim in the pool. I'm sure in time she'll get another pooch.

SC, I remember you telling me about the many kindnesses from your former landlord. So sorry to hear about her tragic end.

Klyd, I feel for that little girl, but at four, children are amazingly resilient. We had a cat before the girls were born. She was not particularly friendly and probably resented them as an intrusion, but they loved her. However, they wanted a dog. Knowing how nasty our cat could be, we told them it would be a terrible idea.

When the girls were 8 and 12, Kitty had repeated seizures. The vet said that she had thrown a clot and recommended putting her to sleep. We did, and then brought her home to be buried in the woods behind our house. The girls were sobbing their little hearts out during the funeral, and it killed me to see them taking it so badly.

They dried their eyes while we walked back to the house, and then said, "Now that Kitty's dead, can we get a dog???"

Absolutely. She's been in good spirits. She even talked to my daughter about all the fun she had with Brownie, which, I think, was good for her.

He started screaming and the women ran off worried that he could get loose and hurt them, but took his wallet, car and phone.

You may have heard about the helicopter and small plane that collided over the Hudson River killing all nine people aboard both crafts.

The helicopter was a tourist sight-seeing one and it carried five Italian tourists and the pilot. The local news is now carrying the story of another Italian tourist, a woman, and her 13 year old son who missed the flight by a few minutes because the son was worried about taking a helicopter ride. He slowed up the mother enough so that they missed the ill-fated flight.

Talk about "luck".

We were in the city yesterday, SC. There were news helicopters and boats all over. I had heard that they pulled one person out. Did they not survive, or was that just something reported incorrectly by the news crews?

As for the woman and her son, there was actually a study done years ago about train ridership. On the days when there was an accident, the trains had significantly fewer riders than normal.

Nobody was pulled out alive. I think they've recovered three bodies.

Interesting fact about the train ridership on days of accidents. Makes ya believe in ESP.

Absolutely. I can't find the information on the study, but it makes you believe in either a sixth sense or guardian angels.

I heard about the crash, but how sad (lucky) for that 13 year old.

I know these things happen, but I would never go in a helicopter. They have these rides in Vegas too, where you can tour Hoover Dam. I too afraid of heights.

Anyway, what a horrible accident. frown

Local paper here used to run "celebrity news" on p.2. They had a blurb on why Diane Keaton was a bachelor all of her life. The headline read: "Keaton: Mr. Right Never Came." I sent it to Leno with an addition: "...but I bet he had fun trying." smile

Now for some darker news.

My hometown is a small one less than 7000 people. This goes to show no town is immune to big town type problems.

This guy, they say, has mental problems. Gee, ya think?

Did you guys hear about the ex-model who was found mutilated and stuffed a suitcase in a trash bin in Buena Park, CA (which is just north of my area)?
They are searching for an ex-boyfriend who was in some reality tv show. What makes this so gruesome is that today, I heard that they couldn't get fingerprints nor dental records because he pulled her teeth out. eek They identified her (or confirmed her identity) by the serial number on her breast implants. Can you freekin' imagine? Whatkind of an animal this guy is? I believe they said he's in Canada (or from Canada).

I hope they find this guy and hang him tightly by his balls. What a POS pig he is.

This has been one of the big stories here, TIS, for the past few days. I heard today that the network cancelled the reality show because of this suspect's notoriety.

SC,

I don't know this model, but by the picture she reminds me of someone from the 50's. You know, like Jayne Mansfield kind of...or that era. Don't you think? Horrible terrifying death for sure. frown
