At this moment Jeter, Ichiro and Rivera would be elected from the AL, and although he has a long way to go, I'd bet Pujols would get in if his career were to end today.

Hoffman, the career leader in saves, is a question mark. The Hall has been very selective about closers and points out that Gossage and Sutter would pitch 2 and three innings for saves where the closers today seldom go beyond three outs.

Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey, Jr., John Smoltz (and pretty soon) Pedro Martinez are present players, who are locks for the Hall. A-Rod and Ramirez have to join the group that includes McGwire, Bonds and Sosa. I also expect Jim Thome to be inducted.

There are a lot of young players having fantastic careers, who have to keep doing it for another 7-10 years to join the conversation.
