Mariah did sound horrible. It's a shame because when she covered that song in the 90's it was a very good remake.

Ever since she abondoned the "pop" sound that made her famous and trying to be a soul singer, she can't reach a high not to save her soul. She just whispers and breathes now. She is nowhere near the singer she used to be.
