I am not a huge football fan, but I find the transfer fee system fascinating. Does one guy really make that much of a difference? How do you even price these fees? Do they use some sort of financial model to determine (i) effect on Win-Loss, (ii) effect on attendance revenues, (iii) effect on marketing revenues, (iv) other?
Like I said, fascinating.
The best players who cost the most money can only be bought by the elite few clubs,hence the top clubs stay at the top and the others cannot get anywhere near them. The draft system used in the US would be great for football but will never happen obviously!
P.S. Get used to the horns guys,they are here to stay. Very popular in South Africa by all accounts
