Yogi, here's wishing your friend a speedy recovery. I have a friend who needed a valve replacement several years ago. He tends to have a glass or two (or three or four) each evening. When the cardiologist came out to tell his wife that the operation was successful, he also asked her if her husband drank. She stammered a bit, wondering how they could have seen his liver from his heart, and then blurted out that he enjoyed a glass of wine with dinner. The doctor told her that her husband had the cleanest arteries he had ever seen!

This may seem ridiculous, but what is a good place to get dried leaves? I want to use them for a short film I am making. Till a couple of months ago, my patio used to be full of dry leaves, but in spring there are none. I live in a big apartment complex and I don't know any home owners who would allow me to take their yard garbage Is there some place I can buy dry leaves of any sort? Garden supply stores, walmart, wherever??

Do you have a park near you? There might be some left over from last autumn.

Our rabbit Jack had to be put to sleep yesterday. He was 6 years old and had developed abcesses in his mouth. The vet did the humane thing but the kids were a bit upset. He is buried in our back garden now along with 2 other rabbits,2 cats and a dog. Talk about Pet Cemetery.....

When I was a kid, my neighbor, Pete, had a pet rabbit. Now this is in a Bronx tenement, mind you. One day he looked real sick when Pete was leaving for school and when he got home that night, he asked his father how's the rabbit? His father answers him in his broken English: He was delicious. Can you imagine?

That's a true story. You'd think that would've put me off rabbit for life, but I still like it. So Yogi, had you eaten him, you could've moved this into the food thread.

I put an ad in craigslist and actually got two responses. I had told that I would pay $5 for a bag, but one gentleman offered 4 bags free of cost. He had collected oak leaves and twigs falling off his roof for garden mulch and he had more than he needed.

Cool. If he lives near you there'd be no postage charges, but if you're gonna go to his home, take someone with you.

You can find anything on Craigslist! Even bags of leaves and twigs!

Actually I already picked them up yesterday. I know it is always scary to trust strangers. I had told my friend that i would call her before meeting him and wanted her to check back with me in 10 min or assume something wrong. Nothing of that sort happened. he was an old man who already had the trash bags outside his home by the time I reached there and it was over in 10 min.

Reading about the eligibility to have kids in the "mom throws out kids" thread reminds me of another thing. Does one need to be 18+ to buy condoms? Usually walmart staff never ask me to show ID unless I buy wine. But whenever I buy condoms, they always ask me to show ID to "verify my credit card". They never seem to care about my credit card, even when I have purchased for hundreds of dollars, but suddenly they want to verify when there are condoms in the checkout! I don't know if it is a Texas thing or some Walmart policy
