Yogi, here's wishing your friend a speedy recovery. I have a friend who needed a valve replacement several years ago. He tends to have a glass or two (or three or four) each evening. When the cardiologist came out to tell his wife that the operation was successful, he also asked her if her husband drank. She stammered a bit, wondering how they could have seen his liver from his heart, and then blurted out that he enjoyed a glass of wine with dinner. The doctor told her that her husband had the cleanest arteries he had ever seen!
